Frequently Asked Questions

Ask Anna…

What is Nutrition Therapy?

The science of nutrition that prioritizes nutrient density and biochemical individuality. With this in mind, practitioners use a therapeutic approach to address the whole body with a specified dietary protocol geared toward each person as an individual.

Who is Nutrition Therapy for?

Nutrition Therapy is really for everyone. No matter your state of health, everyone can benefit by tuning in to what you put in your bodies and how that makes you feel. Nutrition Therapy takes the common saying "you are what you eat" and adds to it- "you are what you eat, digest, and absorb.” In my practice, I often hear my clients complaining of fatigue, hormonal imbalances, digestive distress, emotional eating habits, skin disorders, joint pain, and food anxiety. Many times people are already eating a “clean” diet, yet, they still aren't seeing the health level they want. Without the ability to properly digest and absorb the many vital nutrients from the food consumed, you may still find yourself suffering. There are several factors for why this may be the case, and Nutrition Therapy (and I) are here to help you.

What can I expect from general nutrition consultations?

1. I take an extensive look into your health history + your health goals. I take the time to sit down with you and discuss how you feel daily and identify if there is a gap between your current state and how you’d like to feel each day.

2. Dietary evaluation + food journal (what's coming in + your ELIMINATION). Together we'll dive into what you're putting into your body and tune into how that's fueling your system. We'll look at your elimination (yes, pooping) activity and make adjustments.

3. Clean out + build back up. I find with many of my clients (and myself) the healing process takes some time to clean out and then reintroduce and retrain the body to function optimally. This often will include focusing on the gut (where 80% of the immune system cells live!). I'll introduce you to The 4 'R' Approach of holistic healing:

  • Remove

  • Replenish

  • Reinocculate

  • Repair

4. Create a lasting wellness plan. I'll design a program // protocol for you that utilizes nutrition therapy, supplementation, and mindful movement to build your nutrient stores, help reduce stress, and increase sleep + overall well-being.

Do you offer lab work?

I don’t run labs, however, I am trained in interpreting labs and might suggest you work with your primary care physician to obtain a lab, and then go over the results with you.

What’s your nutrition philosophy?

I prioritize nutrient density and biochemical individuality. I focus on which foods are highly reliable sources of essential nutrients and how those nutrients interact within the human biochemical environment. An additional layer of my practice is the recognition that certain foods may be more or less beneficial for each individual based on their unique biochemistry. This allows me to make adjustments in food recommendations that match a person’s particular needs and goals.

How often would we meet?

Generally, I’ll meet with clients once a month for a minimum of three months. Sometimes more frequent sessions make sense depending on the case.
